Change In Game Time

I like Ike ... unless it's a hurricane messing with the time of the Cowboys game.

In anticipation of potential adverse weather conditions from Hurricane Ike, OSU Athletics has moved the game time of Saturday's OSU game against Missouri State to 12:05 p.m. It is still scheduled for television coverage, which means Kansas City Cowboys will be gather at Fox & Hound in Overland Park for a watch party. Join for fellow KC Cowboys for the watch party and cheer our boys to 3-0!

Two Teams Win Big 12 Championships

The OSU women's and men's gof teams recently won Big 12 Championships. Congratulations! Both teams dominated their contests. The women won by 27 strokes, with the top three individual finishers. The men won by 20 strokes, with the top two individual finishers.

The No. 14-ranked Cowgirls are in the midst of the Western Regional tournament in Lincoln Hills, California. After the first round, the team is fifth on leaderboard at plus 5. No. 2 USC is on top. Teams finishing in the top eight will advance to the NCAA Championships. The women's regional tournament runs through May 10. Follow the results on golfstat.com.

The men's team heads to the Central Regional contest May 15-17. It is hosted by Ohio State.

New Basketball Coach

Word on the street and on various sports news outlets is that Travis Ford will soon be announced as Oklahoma State's new basketball coach. Mr. Ford currently is the head coach at the University of Massachusetts. He lead UMass to a 25-11 season in 2007-2008 and to the championship game of the NIT. He is 62-35 in three seasons at UMass.

Headed To New Orleans

An overtime win over No. 11-seeded Florida State secured a spot in the Sweet Sixteen for the Cowgirls. Andrea Riley's free throw with seven-tenths of a second left on the overtime clock gave the Cowgirls the lead. The final score was 73-72.

The team now takes its 27-7 overall record to New Orleans to challenge No. 2-seed LSU. The game takes place either March 29 or March 30. Click here to read a game recap story on okstate.com.

No Luck In NIT

The Cowboys fell to Southern Illinois in a first-round game Tuesday night, March 18, in the NIT. The final score was 69-53. OSU finishes the season with a 17-16 overall record.

Cowgirls Garner No. 3 Seed

After a strong run in the Big 12 Tournament, the Cowgirls were awarded with the No. 3 Seed in the New Orleans Regional. This is the highest seed ever earned by a Cowgirls team! The team finished the season 25-7, with an 11-5 conference record. They lost in a competitive race to Texas A&M in the championship game of the Big 12 Tournament.

The team plays Saturday, March 22, taking on No. 14-seeded East Tennessee State. The game is in Des Moines, Iowa. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and is set to air on ESPN2. The game's winner will take on the winner of the Ohio State and Florida State contest.

Cowboys In NIT

The Pokes are in the NIT, marking the team's third straight year in this post-season tournament. They open action Tuesday night, March 18, by traveling to Southern Illinois. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. The game is scheduled to be aired on ESPN2. Sadly, OSU reportedly has never won a road game in the NIT. Here's hoping a new trend will start with this trip to Carbondale.

A five-game winning streak, over 13,000 fans wearing orange, Pistol Pete, Orange Power, Gallagher-Iba, Senior Night, Bedlam ... it doesn't get much better. And it takes place Wednesday night.

You won't be in Stillwater? The next best thing is joining KC Cowboys at Fox and Hound in Overland Park for a watch party! The Cowboys take on the Sooners March 5, Wednesday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

All Kansas City area Cowboys fans, friends and family are invited to stop by Fox and Hound to root the team on to victory. A win could push the Pokes into the top half of the Big 12 standings. That's a long way from where they were just a few short weeks ago. You're not going to want to miss out on the excitement!

Pokes Top MU

After Saturday's big, one-point win over KU, some may have wondered if the Pokes would have the energy to travel to Columbia and play tough. But play tough they did! The game was topsy-turvy throughout. The 37-37 score at the half was pretty much a clear sign that the game was up for grabs.

With only a few seconds left in the game, Byron Eaton made the two-point basket to put the Cowboys ahead of Missouri. Final score was 75-73. The win is the fourth in the row for the Cowboys and pushes the team's overall record to 15-12, 6-7 in the Big 12.

Next up, Nebraska on March 1 in Stillwater. Game time is set for 12:45 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN-Plus.

The Bedlam contest on March 5 is the next watch party scheduled for KC Cowboys. Be sure to make plans now to join other Kansas City area Cowboys fans at Fox and Hound in Overland Park to watch the game.

And don't forget that this year's Big 12 Tournament will be in Kansas City's Sprint Center. Games start March 13.

Wrestlers On ESPNU

The Cowboys wrestling match on Jan. 20 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be televised on ESPNU. The match starts at 6 p.m. in Oklahoma City's Ford Center as part of the ESPNU Wrestling Invitational presented by Phillips 66. The Pokes are 10-1 and ranked No. 2. The 'Huskers are ranked No. 3.

Before Sunday's match, though, on Saturday, Jan. 19, the OSU wrestlers travel to Columbia to take on No. 11-ranked MU. That match starts at 1 p.m.

Cowgirls Are Hot

In case you haven't heard, the Cowgirls are on a streak. The team is 15-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12. The team is ranked No. 18, wich is the highest ranking in school history.

After her 45-point outburst against OU on Jan. 12, Andrea Riley was selected the Big 12's Player of the Week. She led the team to an 82-63 win over OU, the team's first win against the Sooners after 19 consecutive losses. OU was ranked No. 6 at the time. According to okstate.com, the game was a sellout. First time in Cowgirls history in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Here's a link to a great story by The Kansas City Star's Mechelle Voepel. She wrote the story for ESPN.

Jan. 16 the Cowgirls beat MU 76-41. This weekend, Jan. 19, they travel to College Station to take on No. 16 A&M.

Follow the team's progress on the cbssportsline website. Just fyi, Oklahoma City's Ford Center is one of the sites for the regional finals this year on the way to the Women's Final Four. Will the OSU women be there?

The KC Cowboys Chapter plans to host several watch parties for this year's basketball season. All of the watch parties will be at Fox and Hound located in Overland Park. The first chapter-hosted event is this Saturday, Jan. 12, as the Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Stillwater to take on the Pokes. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m.

The Cowboys got the call from the Insight Bowl located in Tempe, Arizona. The team will take on the Indiana Hoosiers (7-5) in a New Year's Eve contest. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. CT.

The game will be televised on the NFL Network, which is not part of the Time Warner package in the Kansas City area. It is available on Everest, satellite or dish. If a watch party can be scheduled, details will be posted here.

Bowl Announcement

As soon as OSU's bowl announcement is made, your KC Cowboys will work on plans to organize a bowl watch party. Bowl bids likely will be made within the next few days. Saturday evening's Big 12 Championship Game will help to determine the bowl pecking order. An MU win over the Sooners could very well send the Tigers to the BCS Championship Game. Plus, most prognosticators say that two Big 12 teams could land in BCS bowls.

Chances are the Pokes are headed to the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona. However, a few other bowls still remain a possibility. Check back here next week for details.

Pokes On ESPN Saturday Night

Gallagher-Iba Arena is the venue where the Cowboys will take on the Washington Huskies in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series. Game time is 4:30 p.m. It will be aired on ESPN. The last time the Pokes played Washington was in 1999 when the team traveled to Seattle and won 84-72.

The matchup is part of the first Hardwood Series. It includes serveral games over a few days including Oregon at K-State, OU at USC, Iowa State at Oregon State, Washington State at Baylor, MU at Cal, KU at USC, Stanford at Colorado, Arizona State at Nebraska, A&M at Arizona and Texas at UCLA.

The Cowgirls basketball team is 7-0 and is on the verge of cracking the AP Top 25 poll. The team next plays Wichita State in Stillwater on Dec. 4. Here's a link to follow the team's results as posted on cbssportsline.com.

Basketball, Cross Country And Bedlam

The Cowboys beat LSU 83-77 in the first round of the Maui Invitational basketball tournament. In the second round the team lost to No. 11-ranked Marquette and then lost again to Illinois in the tournament's third-place game.

Congrats to the men's cross country team. After recently winning the Midwest Regional, the team went on the to the NCAA championship meet and placed third. Colorado was the next highest Big 12 team, placing seventh. Oregon won the meet.

All the talk in town might be about a "Border Showdown," but all fans of the Cowboys know there's only one game this weekend that matters to us. It's BEDLAM! Hope to see you at Paddy's as KC Cowboys gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving weekend to root the team on to victory over OU.

Bedlam Game Time Set

The Pokes took care of the Baylor Bears, winning 45-14. Next up is the Sooners, with the Cowboys traveling to Norman for the Thanksgiving weekend game. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. The game will be aired on Fox Sports Net. A win would give OSU a 7-5 overall record and leave the team close to the top of the standings of the Big 12 South. Seriously!

Come on downtown to Paddy O'Quigley's Crossroads to watch the game with other KC Cowboys. Got family in town? No problem. Let them know they are welcome to join the fun. Paddy's also has some great half-priced appetizers starting at 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

One thing to note for this season, losing to the Cowboys has led to three firings. Texas Tech's defensive coordinator, Nebraska's AD and Baylor's head coach each learned of their dismissals shortly after a loss at the hands of the Cowboys. Who's next?

OSU men's and women's teams have started the basketball season. The men's team is in Hawaii for a tournament starting Nov. 19. The games are scheduled for airing on ESPN stations. Cowboys Travel To Waco, OU Up Next

OSU's football team takes on the Baylor Bears Saturday night, Nov. 17. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net, with a 6 p.m. start. Your KC Cowboys are not hosting an official watch party for this game.

If the Pokes are able to gain a win, it will be the sixth one for the season making the team bowl eligible. The team must beat Baylor first, but most bowl prognosticators have OSU listed headed to either the Alamo, Insight, Independence or Sun Bowls.

OSU closes the season with the annual bedlam battle against OU. This year's contest is from Norman and is scheduled for television. Be sure to check back here for details as the KC Cowboys are planning a watch party for this game.

Nov. 10 Watch Party v. Kansas

It was a heart-breaking loss to Texas. An all-too-familiar experience if you are a fan of the Cowboys. Especially against Texas. But we can't give up yet as next up are the highly ranked Kansas Jayhawks.

Even while standing atop the Big 12 North and with a 9-0 record, the oddsmakers currently have the Jayhawks favored by only 5 1/2 points. Of course, every Cowboys fan in Kansas City especially wants to see the Pokes take down that KU team. Somehow it will make Monday morning at the office a little easier for many of us.

It's all the more reason to make plans to join other KC Cowboys at our watch party at Paddy O'Quigley's Crossroads! Game time is 7 p.m. We want a huge crowd there in order to drown out any cheers (and hopefully later their tears) of any KU fans.

Plus, Carmen Dale, the director of chapter relations with the OSU Alumni Association, is traveling up from Stillwater to join other orange-clad fans at Paddy O'Quigley's Crossroads. She looks forward to meeting as many KC Cowboys as possible, so we for sure want a large attendance.

After about a decade of not performing, Monday night Garth Brooks begins a series of nine concerts in Kansas City's new Sprint Arena. For you Cowboys that are among the around 160,000 people with tickets, it is certain you are in for a great time. There likely will be a bunch of O-Staters in the crowd!

If you don't know where to park downtown, click here for a parking map that is available on the Sprint Center's website. Also, Paddy O'Quigley's, where the chapter has been hosting its football watch parties, is not too far from the Sprint Center. Could be a good place to pre- or post-party.

Texas Game Picked For TV, Wrestling Update

The Nov. 3 football game for the Cowboys against the Texas Longhorns has been picked for television coverage. However, ABC is holding off announcing game time and specifically what type of coverage. The game might not even air in the Kansas City area.

So, unfortunately, specifics are not available. An announcement is anticipated Monday morning. We will be sure to post details for a Kansas City Cowboys watch party, if the game is on tv here, as soon as possible and to send an e-mail announcement.

Cowboy Wrestling Update
The preseason coaches poll recently was released. It has the Cowboys sitting at No. 2 right behind defending national champion Minnesota. Wildcats The Next Foe

OSU's next football game is Oct. 20 game against Kansas State. The game against the Wildcats was not selected for television coverage. Thus, KC Cowboys will not be hosting a watch party.

Coming off the big win over Nebraska, a victory over K-State could position the Cowboys on the path to a bowl selection. In the Oct. 14 AP poll, K-State is ranked No. 25. OSU is unranked, with a 4-3 overall record and 2-1 in conference action.

Game time is set for 6:05 p.m. The campus is celebrating Homecoming. This year's theme is "An Orange State of Mind."

Oct. 27 the Pokes have the day off. The team will then host the Texas Longhorns on Nov. 3. Details will be posted on this site as soon as it is announced if that game is selected to air on television.

Good Showing For A&M Watch Party

There was a pretty large group of Cowboys that gathered at Paddy's Crossroads for the Texas A&M watch party. Almost 50 folks were noted on our sign-in sheets. Although the KC Cowboys easily outnumbered the Aggie fans at the other end of the restuarant, by game's end the Aggies were celebrating while those dressed in orange left disappointed. A&M won 24-23.

Everyone had a great time, though. Thanks to everyone that attended.

Plaza Art Fair

Kansas City's Country Club Plaza becomes a total outdoor fun spot during the annual Plaza Art Fair. It runs Sept. 21, 22 and 23. Not only is there some really good art (and some bad art) there's food, live music and entertainment, and lots of great people watching. For sure one of those Kansas City events where people go to see and be seen.

Maybe you can make a day out of it and stop by our chapter's watch party for the Texas Tech game before or after your visit to The Plaza. It would be cool to have a bunch of orange-clad, OSU fans walking around the art fair.

Friday, Sept. 14, the Cowboys travel to Alabama to take on the Trojans of Troy. Kansas City area alumni might remember that this is the school that managed a win against MU just a few years ago. So, it might seem like a little-known school, but it could be a strong foe. Troy also went to a bowl game in 2006.

The game is scheduled for ESPN2. Although it is on television, the chapter is not hosting a watch party.

Make plans now to attend our next watch party on Saturday, Sept. 22, when the Cowboys host the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. The hope is we'll be rooting the team on to its third victory. Ride'em Cowboys!

It's a new season and we are pleased to announce a new location for our chapter's football watch parties! We will kick off football season with a watch party at Paddy O'Quigley's Crossroads for OSU's season-opening game at the University of Georgia. The game is Saturday, Sept. 1 at 5:45 p.m.

Paddy O'Quigley's Crossroads, located at 20th and Walnut (100 East 20th), is a local establishment. Their management has graciously agreed to provide our group with space, big screen TVs, sound, great service, and good food for our watch parties! The venue's website is oquigleys-crossroads.com. We think this new location will be a hit with all of you. Because it is centrally located downtown, the hope is that OSU alumni, friends and fans all over the metro will have easy access.

We also are pleased to announce that a new team has assembled to keep the KC Alumni Chapter active and strong. The Cowboys will take to the football field within the next few weeks with their first contest a tough one against the Georgia Bulldogs. That game is Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1, starting at 5:45 p.m.

Jayhawks Hosting Cowboys At Baseball

It looks like rain is in the forecast for the weekend. If the weather allows, the Cowboys will be battling up with KU in baseball.

The three-game series is scheduled to start Friday, March 23, at 5 p.m. Games on Saturday and Sunday are set to start at 1 p.m. As of March 20, the Pokes are 16-5 and ranked No. 14 in the "Baseball America" poll. Vanderbilt is No. 1. Texas, at No. 10, is the only Big 12 team ranked higher than OSU.

Post-Season Basketball Action

The Cowgirls are headed to the NCAA Tournament! The team was selected as the No. 10 seed in the Greensboro Regional. The Cowgirls last trip to the NCAA Tournament was in 1996.

The women in orange will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take on No. 7 seed Bowling Green (29-3). The first-round game is Sunday, March 18, and scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. CT. It will air on ESPN. The winner advances to play the No. 2 seed Vanderbilt and No. 15 seed Delaware State winner. Let's hope the Cowgirls upset a few teams over the next few weeks! The Cowboys host Marist Tuesday, March 13, in the first round of the NIT. Game time is 9 p.m. Central. It will air on ESPNU.

Bring On The 'Horns

OSU fans are known for having big hearts. Having a strong heart also is important.

Friday's win over the tournament's No. 2 seeded-Texas A&M on the second day of the Big 12 Tournament is a good example on why a strong heart is helpful. With about five minutes left, many OSU fans might have thought about calling it quits. However, the team had other thoughts and came on strong to erase the deficit. With hardly any time left, the Pokes sealed the deal. And even then it was only after A&M took and missed three shots before the buzzer sounded. OSU won 57-56.

The victory places the Pokes in the Big 12 Tournament semi-finals against No. 3-seeded Texas. The game is expected to start about 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. If you're out and about, stop by Fox and Hound in Overland Park to watch the game with other OSU fans. Could be another exciting and fun game. The tournament's other semi starts at 1 p.m. and features No. 4 seed Kansas State v. No. 1 seed Kansas.

Regardless of the outcome of Monday's season-finale against Nebraska, the Cowboys are set as the No. 7 seed at the Big 12 Basketball Tournament. On Thursday, March 8, OSU again takes on Nebraska in first-round action. The game is at 6 p.m. Nebraska is the No. 10 seed. The winner advances to play No. 2 Texas A&M at 6 p.m., Friday, March 9. KU is the tournament's top seed.

KC Cowboys plan to host a watch party at the Fox and Hound in Overland Park for Thursday's game against Nebraska. The last time the Pokes played consecutive games against the same opponent was in 1992. That year, the team won two games against Kansas State in the regular-season finale and in the first round of the Big Eight Tournament.

As long as the Pokes keep winning, please make plans to join other Cowboy fans at the Fox and Hound. Semifinal games on Saturday are at 1 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. The finals on Sunday start at 2 p.m.

The Cowgirls are the No. 6 seed in the women's tournament. The team starts play Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. against No. 11 Kansas. The winner advances to challenge No. 3 Baylor on Wednesday. The quarterfinals, semis and finals are scheduled for Fox Sports Network.

Unfortunately, the end result was a loss to Texas Tech. The Pokes third loss within the last seven days. The team's record sits at 19-9, with three games left in the regular season. A shot at the NCAA tournament for sure is at risk.

Next up -- the K-State Wildcats. They travel to Stillwater on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The Cowboys hope to start a new home winning streak! Although KC Cowboys are not hosting a watch party for the remaining televised regular season games, the Fox and Hound in Overland Park always welcomes Cowboys.

Remembering Cowboys

The loss of 10 men on Jan. 27, 2001 marks one of the saddest days in Oklahoma State University history. Remembered as "The 10," they were OSU student-athletes, staff, media, and pilots that were killed when one of two team planes crashed while the Cowboys were returning to Stillwater from a basketball game at the University of Colorado.

Saturday, Jan. 27, marks the sixth anniversary of the devastating loss, and is the first time the anniversary falls during a home game for both the OSU men and women. OSU will honor the 10 by opening the Oklahoma State University Basketball Memorial to the public on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27. The memorial, dedicated to the 10 men, is located in the southwest lobby of Gallagher-Iba Arena.

This weekend will also launch efforts for the inaugural "Remember The Ten Run" to be held in Stillwater each year. The event will be a tribute to the men and an annual fundraiser for the OSU Counseling Services.

Even a mediocre lip reader could have told you the words mouthed by OU Head Coach Jeff Capel as Tyler Hatch completed his first of two free throws. Hatch got his only points of the game with just four seconds left. His two points were enough to help secure the victory by the No. 13-ranked Pokes over OU, 66-61. Byron Eaton was the top scorer for the Cowboys with 17 points.

Good Guys Win In Triple OT

Mario Boggan's 37 points were matched by Texas standout Kevin Durant. But in the end, it was the Pokes on top. After three overtimes, the No. 11-ranked Cowboys beat the No. 21-ranked Longhorns. Final score: 105-103.

Seven Cowboys scored in the contest, with four players, including Boggan, in double digits. JamesOn Curry was the next leading scorer with 28 points. Without a doubt, the eventful, unbelievable contest was a team effort.

However, the next "official" chapter watch party is the Jan. 22, ESPN Big Monday contest as the Pokes host the Sooners.

The Nebraska game has been rescheduled for March 5 in Lincoln. Adverse weather conditions this past weekend in Oklahoma City prevented the team from traveling to Lincoln.

By the way, the Cowgirls are 14-2, 2-1 Big 12, and are off to one of the team's best starts in years. Thursday they aim to end a 15-game losing streak against the Sooners. The game from Stillwater is being televised in Oklahoma. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

Pokes Drop Contest Against KU

Is KU that good? Is OSU that bad? It sure didn't look like a game between two Top 10-ranked teams as the Cowboys lost 87-57 to Kansas. But there are still 14 more conference games to go to discover the answers.

Despite the lame effort by the Pokes, KC Cowboys had a great time at Fox and Hound Wednesday night. KC Cowboys met new friends and caught up with old friends. Twenty-three folks signed the attendance roster, with four indicating it was their first time to attend a KC Cowboys event.

The Cowboys next play Saturday, Jan. 13, as they travel to Nebraska. Game time is 12:30 p.m. The Fox and Hound on Metcalf in Overland Park always welcomes all Cowboys for every televised game. However, the next "official" chapter watch party is Jan. 22 when the Sooners travel to Stillwater. We hope to see you at the watch party.

And don't forget, the chapter is seeking volunteers for leadership roles. Volunteers are needed to host watch parties, attend high school college nights or plan a special event for the chapter. If you are interested, send an e-mail to David Douglass.

Basketball Watch Party - Jan. 10 v. Kansas

The orange faithful will gather at Fox and Hound in Overland Park Wednesday night, Jan. 10, as the Cowboys travel to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks. Both teams enter the contest ranked among the Top 10 in the country. The Pokes are coming off an 81-77 win over Baylor, while this game will be the start of conference action for the 'Hawks. Do you part to cheer on the team. Wear orange!

Beginning at 7:15 p.m., there also will be a short chapter meeting of the KC Cowboys. There will be an opportunity to volunteer to help or lead various activities for the chapter. We hope we can count on your participation.

By the way, football standout Adarius Bowman may be making his basketball debut against KU. Coach Sean Sutton announced over the weekend that Bowman will be joining the basketball team. This is good news for the Pokes' short bench.

And the good news doesn't stop there! Bowman is expected to return to OSU this fall for his senior year of football eligibility. Coupled with Bobby Reid and other talented Cowboys, it could be an exciting football season.

Cowboys Start Conference Play

Oklahoma State starts conference competition Saturday, Jan. 6, against Baylor. Game time is set for 5 p.m. from Gallagher-Iba Arena. Although originally scheduled for ESPNU, it was announced that the game will be televised by the Cowboy Sports Network.

With the Chiefs playoff game starting at 3:30 p.m. also on Saturday, one might be hard pressed to find a place airing the contest between the Cowboys and Baylor.

Oklahoma State is off to a great start at 14-1. According to okstate.com, the team ended nonconference play with a record-setting performance against Southwestern Oklahoma State. The final score was 129-77. Mario Boggan scored a career-high 36 points and JamesOn Curry added 31. It marked the Poke's first 100-point game since Jan. 30, 2005, when the Cowboys beat Colorado 104-86. It also broke the previous school record of 127 points, set Dec. 3, 1977, against Santa Fe.

OSU currently is ranked No. 12 in the AP and the Coach's polls.

Chiefs Playoff Bound

The cards fell in place for the Chiefs to make it to the the playoffs. They will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts for a Saturday afternoon contest.

On a sad note, it was reported that Darrent Williams was killed in a Jan. 1 shooting in Denver. He played four years for the OSU Cowboys football team and was in his second year with Denver. Just hours before the shooting, he played in the New Year's Eve Denver loss against San Francisco. The loss by the Broncos advanced the Chiefs into the playoffs.

Basketball season is off to a very successful start. The Cowboys currently are ranked in the top 15 in both national polls. Despite having only 8 scholarship players and losing one of those to a potential season-ending injury, the team is playing well and taking down some stiff competition.

Basketball Moves To 2-0

While the No. 3 Jayhawks go off and lose to Oral Roberts, our Cowboys were able to hold off Louisiana's Northwestern State with a 79-76 win in Stillwater. JamesOn Curry and Mario Boggan each scored 22 points in the contest. The Pokes next foe is Texas Southern, with a home game on Nov. 17.

Many of the team's games will be televised over the next few months. The first game on tv appears to be the Nov. 24 contest against Auburn. All 16 of the Pokes' Big 12 Conference games will be on television.

We will be sure to provide the entire OSU basketball schedule to Fox and Hound in Overland Park. Even when our alumni chapter is not hosting an "official" watch party, the 'Hound always welcomes Cowboy fans. Dates for official watch parties will be posted to this site as those dates are finalized.

Win Makes Cowboys Bowl Eligible

With the win over Baylor this past Saturday, the Pokes are now bowl eligible for the fourth time in the last five years. cbs Sportsline predicts the Cowboys possibly will be invited to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana. That game is Dec. 28. Other possible bowls include the Insight Bowl in Tempe or the Texas Bowl in Houston. The Big 12 Conference has tie-ins to eight bowls.

OSU's 66-24 win last weekend was the team's highest single-game output since 1973.

The Pokes next take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock. The team ends the season Thanksgiving weekend with Senior Day and a game against OU.

Pokes Lose To No. 4 Texas

About 40 Kansas City Cowboys gathered at the Fox and Hound in Overland Park Saturday to watch the Pokes battle the Texas Longhorns. Unfortunately, the guys in the brighter shade of orange were not able to walk away with a victory. The final score was 36-10.

OSU Athletes Receive Honors

Cowboys defensive end Nate Peterson received the Big 12's honor as the defensive player of the week. His selection was announced Oct. 30.

Nate is a Tulsa native (Union grad). His defensive sacks were key in the Cowboys victory over Nebraska. He also returned a fourth-quarter fumble for a touchdown that left Cowboys everywhere confident the win over the 'Huskers was in sight.

Soccer player Yolanda Odenyo took sports to a new level for OSU women with her selection as the Big 12 Conference soccer "Player of the Year." She received the honor along with a Nebraska soccer player. Yolanda is the first OSU female student-athlete honored as a Player of the Year by the conference.

Congratulations also to OSU soccer coaches Karen Hancock and Colin Carmichael. They were picked co-Coaches of the Year by the conference. They led the Cowgirls to its best-recond ever and tied for second with Texas in the Big 12 race.

OSU soccer starts Big 12 Championship tournament action Nov. 1 as the No. 2 seed behind top seed Texas A&M. The Cowgirls are ranked No. 7 nationally.

Cowboys Dominate Nebraska

You read it right. OSU beat the 'Huskers 41-29. A reason for all Cowboys to celebrate!

After a slow start in the first quarter and falling behind, the Cowboys scored 20 points in the second quarter and then tacked on 21 points in the fourth quarter for a decisive victory.

The Pokes last beat Nebraska in 2002, with the last victory prior to that in 1961.

Congratulations to Coach Gundy and the fantastic group of Cowboys!

Blocked Point After Ends Game

The Aggies just barely got out of Stillwater with a win. The Pokes pulled ahead 27-20 with a little more than three minutes left in the game, which made the Homecoming crowd believe a victory might be on its way. Instead, A&M got a touchdown with just three seconds left on the clock to force the overtime.

A&M scored first in the OT period. It didn't take long for the Cowboys to score. As the point after kick started to sail in the air, an A&M player reached up and batted it down to secure the victory. Final score 34-33.

The Pokes fall to 4-3, while the No. 23-ranked Aggies move to 7-1. Here's a game recap on foxsports.com.

The Cowboys next play Nebraska at 2:30, Oct. 28. It will be televised on ABC. The KC Cowboys will host a watch party at Fox and Hound in Overland Park.

Nebraska Game On TV, Bowman Honored

The Oct. 28 Cowboys against Nebraska matchup has been picked as the 2:30 p.m. game on ABC. If you're not headed to Stillwater that day, make plans now to join KC Cowboys for a watch party. As the watch party details are finalized they will be posted here.

The Bobby Reid and Adarius Bowman airshow during the Oct. 14 game against KU has lots of folks talking. As a result, Bowman was selected the Big 12's offensive player of the week. He set a Big 12 Conference record with 300 receiving yards on 13 catches.

According to the Big 12 press release, Bowman had four catches resulting in touchdowns over a 16-minute span. He scored from 54, 25, 55 and 64 yards. Bowman currently leads the country with 123.8 receiving yards per game and ranks second with 22.5 yards per reception.

Big 12 Pre-Season Basketball Poll Released

With eight of our top 10 scorers returning, the Cowboys are picked third in the pre-season Big 12 Conference basektball poll. The Pokes edged Texas by just a few points.

KU led the pack, followed by Texas A&M in second.

Basketball action starts Nov. 3 with an exhibition game against Pittsburg State. The Pokes start the non-conference season Nov. 10 against Florida Atlantic. The first Big 12 Conference game is Jan. 6 against Baylor. All three of these games are in Stillwater.

Cowboys Outgun Jayhawks

What about basketball? That's often the retort many OSU fans hear when hazing KU fans after a football victory. That basketball game is still several months away. For now, let the record show 42-32.

After several turnovers, the Pokes went into the locker room at half time in the hole 14-0. It was the successful recovery of an onside kick in the third quarter that had Cowboy fans believing. Everyone could feel the momentum shifting.

Quarterback Bobby Reid kept passing and it was mostly Adarius Bowman catching. OSU rolled up 603 yards. Reid threw for 411 yards and rushed for 46. His 457 years set a school record, topping the 434 yards current OSU Coach Mike Gundy set in 1989 as a student. His performance was against KU as well.

There was a strong OSU contingency in the crowd, with many likely being KC Cowboys.

The Cowboys next take on the Texas A&M Aggies in Stillwater. The Homecoming matchup is set for 6:05 p.m. and is not scheduled for television coverage in the Kansas City area. A&M is coming off a 25-19 win over No. 19-ranked Missouri.

Kansas City Chiefs Football Games

During the Chiefs and Broncos game, you may have noticed two former Cowboys.

Darrent Williams is the starting cornerback for Denver. If you are rooting for the home team, you likely weren't cheering during Darrent's five tackles as the Broncos handed Kansas City its second loss.

Tatum Bell is a tailback for the Broncos. He had 69 yards on 16 carries and had two catches for seven yards in Denver’s 9-6 win over Kansas City.

Spirit Rally At 10:30 A.M. In Lawrence

According to okstate.com, OSU football fans traveling to Lawrence this weekend for the game against KU are encouraged to attend a "Road Rally" to help spur the Cowboys on to victory.

The rally begins at 10:30 a.m. at the southeast corner of Memorial Stadium. OSU fans are asked to gather at this location to cheer the team on as they enter the stadium. The OSU Spirit Squad, pep band and Pistol Pete will also be in attendance. Wear orange, be loud and bring your friends.

Gameday In Lawrence

Game time for the Oct. 14 battle in Lawrence is 1 p.m. as the Pokes take on the Jayhawks. The game is not slated for television coverage in the Kansas City area.

OSU hopes to end its two-game losing skid. The Cowboys have won its last four games against the Jayhawks. Also on a two-game losing streak, KU's last game was a three-point loss to Texas A&M.

As a side note, the Oct. 21 Homecoming game against Texas A&M is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. and will not be televised in the Kansas City area.

Pokes Drop Close One To K-State

With seconds left in the game and the Cowboys just barely more than 20 yards away from the winning touchdown, the Wildcats forced the game-ending interception. K-State's go-ahead touchdown was scored with less than two minutes left in the game. The Pokes effort to come back started with an almost 40-yard kickoff return, but ended with the interception. The Wildcats won the game 31-27.

Cowboys To Take On Wildcats

Big 12 Conference play starts this weekend for the Cowboys. They travel to Manhattan, Kansas to take on the K-State Wildcats. Game time is 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7. The game is not slated for television in the Kansas City area.

Although the Pokes last beat the Wildcats in 2003 in Stillwater, a 38-34 win, the last time the team won in Manhattan was in 1988. The last and only time OSU started conference play against K-State was in 1978. It was an 18-7 loss in Manhattan.

A new trend favoring the Cowboys will surely start this weekend.

Traveling Cowboys fans are invited to greet the team as they arrive Saturday in Manhattan. Plans are for the team bus to arrive at the K-State football stadium 12:25 p.m., approximately two hours before kickoff.

OSU fans are asked to gather on the east side of the Vanier Football Complex behind the north endzone. Pistol Pete, pep band, OSU spirit squad will join Cowboys fans to welcome the team.

Soccer Team Reaches Highest Ranking

Congratulations to the OSU women's soccer team on being ranked 16th in the Oct. 2 Soccer America poll. This is the highest ranking in Cowgirls soccer history. The team just came home from a win over then-ranked No. 11 Texas and sports a 9-2-1 record. The Cowgirls were ranked No. 22 in the prior poll.

Notre Dame (11-0) leads the poll. The other Big 12 Conference teams ranked are Texas A&M (8-3-1) at No. 8, Texas (8-3-1) at No. 18, and Colorado (7-2-2) at No. 24.

The Cowgirls next take on Iowa State on Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. and Missouri on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. Both games will be in Stillwater.

Loss Doesn't Dampen KC Cowboys Spirit

Forty-five folks signed the attendance roster at our Sept. 23 watch party. It was great seeing so many KC Cowboys. Thank you for attending. Despite the loss, it appeared that everyone was enjoying themselves. We hope you had an opportunity to visit with some friends or to meet some new friends that share a love for orange.

There were many new faces. Fourteen people indicated this was their first KC Cowboys event! We welcome you and hope to see you again. Almost our entire region was represented. Attendees were from Olathe, Belton, Prairie Village, Overland Park, Lenexa, Independence, Gardner, Shawnee, Mission and Kansas City (including north). Plus, there were Cowboys from Tulsa and Stillwater.

Thank you Georgia Brusso and Mike Richards for coordinating the sign-in sheet and greeting everyone. You may have noticed the OSU banner the Fox & Hound hung. Be sure to thank Mike Richards for loaning/donating the banner. The 'Hound promises to leave it hanging in honor of our chapter.

The Cowboys do not play this weekend. The team resumes action Oct. 7 when they travel to Manhattan to take on the K-State Wildcats. Unfortunately, this game will not be televised in the KC area.

Top Player, Preparing For Cougars

Congratulations to Cowboys punter Matt Fodge for his selection as the Big 12 Conference special teams player of the week. He averaged 51.6 yards on five punts, including his second 70-yarder of the season, during OSU's win over FAU. He currently ranks as the nation's leading punter.

The Cowboys are headed to Houston for a Sept. 23 contest against the Cougars. According to okstate.com, there are 22 Cowboys that are from the Houston area. A large Cowboys crowd is expected on hand. The game also marks the 20th anniversary, almost to the day, that Coach Mike Gundy made his first play as a Cowboys quarterback. He made his first career start the following week against Illinois State.

Game time is set for 8 p.m. KC Cowboys will be meeting at Fox & Hound in Overland Park to watch the game and to cheer the Cowboys to victory.

Cowboys Fly Past Owls

It was a hot night in Stillwater, with Florida Atlantic University as the foe for the Cowboys' second home game this season. The Pokes won 48 to 8.

Outstanding plays include two for around 70 yards. During the second quarter, Bobby Reid connected with Adarius Bowman for a 69-yard touchdown pass. In the fourth quarter, Dantrell Savage completed a 70-yard run for a touchdown.

The FAU Owls are coached by Howard Schnellengberger. He is now 0-3 against OSU, losing in 2006 and 2005 with FAU and in 1995 and as head coach for OU. The Pokes won that year 12-0 in Norman.

The 3-0 mark this season has been accomplished three years in a row. Only one other time in Cowboys history has that happened. That was in 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Houston is the site for the team's next contest. On Sept. 23 the Pokes take on the University of Houston. On Sept. 16, the Cougars, 3-0, beat Grambling State 42 to 22.

With a crowd of probably more than 60 orange-clad folks, Fox and Hound in Overland Park should just officially change its name to Boone Pickens North (and a little east). Kansas City Cowboys showed up in force and were ready to root on the Pokes. Thank you to all OSU alums, friends and supporters attending the Kansas City Cowboys watch party.

There were a few people hollering for Florida and a few more wearing an "ugly orange" on the other side of the place watching some game pitting No. 1 and No. 2 in the country, but all those in the right shade of orange were focused on the Cowboys and their 35 to 7 win over Arkansas State. Oklahoma State now boasts 13 straight regular-season wins over nonconference foes.

Depending on television coverage, Kansas City Cowboys likely will plan on a watch party for the Sept. 23 game against Houston. To date, television coverage has not been announced for the games against K-State and KU.

2006-2007 Basketball Schedule Released

Oklahoma State’s Cowboy basketball schedule is now available. All 16 conference games are scheduled for television. Twleve games overall are scheduled for national coverage.

A Nov. 3 exhibition contest against Pittsburg State opens the season. The Pokes start the regular season Nov. 10 against Florida Atlantic. Tough non-conference games are expected when the team takes on Pittsburgh, Syracuse and possibly Wisconsin. Big 12 Conference action starts Jan. 6 against Baylor.
