OSU Athletes Receive Honors

Cowboys defensive end Nate Peterson received the Big 12's honor as the defensive player of the week. His selection was announced Oct. 30.

Nate is a Tulsa native (Union grad). His defensive sacks were key in the Cowboys victory over Nebraska. He also returned a fourth-quarter fumble for a touchdown that left Cowboys everywhere confident the win over the 'Huskers was in sight.

Soccer player Yolanda Odenyo took sports to a new level for OSU women with her selection as the Big 12 Conference soccer "Player of the Year." She received the honor along with a Nebraska soccer player. Yolanda is the first OSU female student-athlete honored as a Player of the Year by the conference.

Congratulations also to OSU soccer coaches Karen Hancock and Colin Carmichael. They were picked co-Coaches of the Year by the conference. They led the Cowgirls to its best-recond ever and tied for second with Texas in the Big 12 race.

OSU soccer starts Big 12 Championship tournament action Nov. 1 as the No. 2 seed behind top seed Texas A&M. The Cowgirls are ranked No. 7 nationally.
